Bell, an idyllic location in the eastern Volcanic Eifel district of Germany, has been known as a traditional village for oven builders for centuries.
<\/strong>
The village of Bell holds a secret. There is a mineral resource here that has accompanied and shaped the lives of the local people for centuries: Bell tuff, a very special stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created more than ten thousand years ago, when the volcanoes in the region erupted with unimaginable force and formed a new landscape.
Originating from the volcanic heat, Bell tuff is exceptionally fire-resistant, thermally conductive and heat-insulating \u2013 which makes it excellently suited to oven building.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Thanks to this unique mineral resource, Bell developed into the centre of oven building. Evidence has been found that the village was exporting its products back in the 15th century; the craftsmanship of the oven builders in Bell was sought after around the world. And it still is today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the oven builders lodged in their customer\u2019s house for as long as they were building the oven, they developed a language of their own to protect their professional secrets: \u201cLebber Talp\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tuff stone from Bell features exceptional qualities \u2026 which is why Bell tuff is at the core of every one of our ovens.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to take advantage of the strong properties of Bell tuff for the production of modern ovens as well, the Heuft family developed a casting process fifty years ago already. This process involved producing stone slabs from ground tuff that could be adjusted to the size of each individual oven, but maintained the unique properties of the natural stone. The slabs manufactured by this process bear the name \u201cHetufin\u201d, an abbreviation of \u201cHEUFT TUFF INNEN\u201d (HEUFT TUFF INTERIOR). These can naturally be purchased separately, without our complete ovens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The formula for the casting compound is \u2013 of course \u2013 top secret!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
